Violin proves once again that filmmakers are never going to stop making such Formula based movies that surely are not bankable any more. Why do filmmakers make the same looking movie again and again, they just put in a very predictable story, add some raunchy songs, good locations and ta-da-ta your masala movie is ready. Movie goers now don’t like this recipe, they need more flavor in their movies and look for good sensible movies.
Well the story of Violin is about a girl named Angel played by Nithya Menon and along with her also follow the lives of her two aunties named Annie played by (Lakshmi Ramakrishnan) and Mercy played by (Reena Basheer). Together these three live in a big, very big place called Rosevilla. This place is situated very far from the places that have dense population and this has a reason. Well the reason is that they find all men bad, and they feel that men are losers.
The two aunties make cakes and earn a livelihood and Angel takes tuitions and also loves playing Violin. Well she loves playing Violin only after her mother’s death, as her mother had presented the Violin to her before dying. And then we obviously meet the hero, Abey played by Asif Ali who is shown as a small time village boy who is also a very good musician and is in the town from the village to make some good money. And then as expected he bumps into the heroine, starts living with the heroine and the aunties as a tenant and then his life changes.
And after some blushes, resistance and doubts in the girls head, she gives a green signal and then they fall in love and then the whole movie follows their eternal love story. So as expected many songs, tears, romance and then the movie ends. The climax of this movie looks very much like Maniratnam’s ‘Alai Payuthe.
Asif Ali surely looks like he has great talents and surely he has all the capabilities to be a great star. His performance in the movie is very good, and he really blends in the character, the only problem was that the character was not written properly. Nithya Menon who is a kind of teen sensation is not at all good in the movie; she lacks everything in the movie. Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, Reena Basheer, and Chembil Ashokan and the talented Abhishek Raveendran have given good performances.
